Nokia Mural 6750 (AT&T) – Basic feature set
Multimedia Phones — On August 1, 2010 at 12:05 amIt is strange to see that there are not many phones in US which come along with a service provider. Nokia is a really big name in the world but their products are not that successful here in the US. We don’t know why but it is true. I got the Nokia Mural 6750 in my labs for review and this phone is from AT&T. It is a clamdshell design phone which looks quite attractive. I was intrigued by the illumination on the lid. To start with, the external display is hidden and it disappears after long moments of inactivity. There is also lighting on the bottom of the device which makes it look sexy. At the flips bottom, there are dedicated music control buttons. I really like it when phones have such dedicated buttons on the lid since you don’t have to open up the phone every time to access the relevant functions. I would like to see more clamshell handsets having buttons on the lid.
Flip open the upper half of the Nokia Mural 6750 and you will see a good display with bright colors. The LCD cannot be seen clearly in bright sunlight but that is not unexpected. Most LCD screens go blank when taken in sunny environments. The menus are good and it is easy to understand. On the lower half, there is the navigation array made up of the four way navigation button with OK button in the middle. It is flanked by two soft buttons, music player short cut key, the AT&T browser, camera button and Talk and End buttons. The latter is also used to switch off the handset. The only thing missing here is the dedicated clear button. Nokia could have taken off the browser key and replaced it with Clear button since you don’t use the browser too often on such phones. For this phone, you will have to use one of the soft keys for the Clear function and it was quite confusing in my lab tests.

Feature set on the Nokia Mural 6750 is pretty decent. There is a music player which lets you download music from AT&T service. There are also the personal organizer features, speakerphone, GPS for use with AT&T. The feature set is pretty basic, and don’t expect any high end smartphone like features here. But mid range users will get everything they want here. The body of the phone is pretty glossy and it easily attracts a lot of fingerprints. On the back, there is a camera but you don’t have flash or self portrait mirror. However, the body is so glossy that you can easily use it as a mirror.
The phone is pretty good and I don’t have much to complain about it. I would really like to see more phones from Nokia coming through carriers. There are high end business and N series phones but they all come unlocked and their price is really high. The price can go above $500 and a tag like that makes a big hole in the pocket.
